Terrace House
Terrace House
This was an exercise in maximising space in a narrow inner-city terrace. The handsome façade was painted in a mix of pale and charcoal grey with a shot of apple green on the front door, to echo the colour of the wattle in the garden.
The comprehensive renovation included a third storey with a dormer window and a terrace off the kitchen making the expansion both vertical and horizontal. “We tackle jobs in stages’, says Briony,’ we get the floor plan right and then we start into the detail. It is a case of how it is going to work and then what is going to work’.
The exquisite material combinations of handmade tiles and copper lights in the kitchen and the textures of the hand-painted wallpaper and bone-handled cupboards in the bedroom speak to how these details impart a distinct character.
