Elizabeth Bay Apartment

Elizabeth Bay Apartment

This Sydney apartment, with its view of the harbour and access to natural light was in need of an interior update. The client was a great admirer of the aesthetic at Spring, the restaurant in London Briony created for her sister, Skye Gyngell, and wanted to channel something of its airy, feminine palette and iconic furniture and lighting choices. “We took everything out of the apartment and started again, bringing in this gentle, tonally complementary blend of materials and furnishings’, says Briony.   Focusing the scheme on light, natural materials the timber of the credenza, with its woven front, and the rich leather of the Cab chairs by Cassina, add warmth and an element of craft. A combination of opaque and sheer curtains wrap around the entire space diffusing the light and strategically blocking view lines of buildings.  Mirrored and mosaic covered surfaces refract light and link the interior of the apartment with its waterside context.
