Nestled in a tree-lined street of Potts Point, this 6.3-meter-wide Victorian terrace had last been modified in the 1980s, resulting in a series of dark, enclosed spaces. The redesign focused on opening up the home, creating a seamless whole-floor living area that integrates the kitchen, dining, and lounge spaces, aligning with contemporary living while respecting the home’s heritage.
A key element of the transformation was designing ample wall space to showcase the client’s extensive Australian art collection. This was complemented by bespoke furniture and carefully restored antiques, creating an eclectic interior that blends art, craftsmanship, and personal history. The clients embraced bold colour choices, including a striking hand-painted blue kitchen, which became a defining feature of the space.
Architectural details were refined to enhance both aesthetics and functionality, with custom joinery, marble finishes, and underfloor heating incorporated throughout. The upper levels were reconfigured to accommodate generous bedrooms, including a primary suite with a walk-in wardrobe and a marble-clad bathroom. French doors were introduced to improve natural light and connection to outdoor spaces, opening onto a courtyard garden and balcony.
This project celebrates a fusion of contemporary design and heritage restoration, resulting in a home that is as visually captivating as it is functional.
